-regretful o regrettable?-

-regretful o regrettable?-
Nota d'uso
L'aggettivo regretful significa “rammaricato, addolorato” e si riferisce soprattutto ai sentimenti: to feel regretful for being so rude, pentirsi di essere così scortese. L'aggettivo regrettable descrive, invece, qualcosa di spiacevole che si ritiene non sarebbe dovuto accadere o che ci dispiace sia accaduto: a most regrettable incident in which a soldier's gun accidentally went off, fatally wounding the soldier, un incidente davvero increscioso in cui il fucile di un soldato ha sparato, ferendolo a morte.
